Katie Saunders

Coach Katie is a Santa Monica High School alumn. As a student at SAMOHI she competed in shotput, discus, and cross country as well as serving as team captain. She went on to earn an associates degree in kinesiology at Santa Monica Community College and compete in javelin, shotput, and discus for their track and field team. She then transferred to California State University Monterey Bay where she competed in division two CCAA javelin. There, she earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a minor in business.

Coach Katie’s professional experience includes four years as a physical therapy aide in Santa Monica and Los Angeles. While earning her bachelor’s degree, she logged ~400 volunteer hours as an athletic training assistant for the CSUMB athletic training program. Here, she learned AT manual therapies, modalities, sport specific training, and worked courtside for all athletics: mens/womens soccer, softball, baseball, mens/womens basketball, water polo, cross country, and track and field. She currently teaches Sports Medicine at Santa Monica High School and is a member of the XCTF coaching staff.
